If you're looking for a great camera - you don't need to look any further. The quality of photos is equal to those taken by P30 Pro and, at a price of around 250eur (for used but undamaged phones) I'd rather buy a second hand P30 than a new P40 to be honest.

I'm Interested in getting this phone but there are a few things that concern me. First of all, Google. I don't mind ditching GMS because I know I can always side load it but if I do sideload GMS, are there any restrictions that will prevent it's long term use? Secondly, I like to game on my phone a lot, I mostly play Call Of Duty: Mobile and I was wondering about the performance. What sort of framerates can I get and at what graphics settings? Also, do you get directional audio when playing games with headphones, like can you hear the direction of footsteps and gunfire? Thanks for your help :)

This Phone Huawei P40 lite haven't let me down. I Love it because of The bigger screen 6,4'. I adore it for The charging speed 40W. The upper hand for both The quality of The screen and that it still have The 3,5 mm port. The issue of not having Google apps preinstalled and coming with Google Play Are easily resolved with The Great alternative called ApkPure. Did I mention The battery size? Yes it keep me going for 2 days so thumbs up Huawei, keep going!

P40 lite is a good phone. Far better than Samsung that gives you endless problems such as software/hardware, charging block, overheating etc...
I had almost every model from the Huawei p6 and I have not once been disappointed in Huawei.

Look the phone is great, camera is very good, the screen is decent, the chipset is really capable and there's plenty of memory.Sure,it doesn't have Google, but it's not their fault, they're going the extra mile to bridge the gap.Obviously some apps are missing, but a lot of them are on APK pure and they run on the phone, the alternatives are good too,and the basics are there.I personally like the fact they can carry on,with all those things going against them right now.

This phone is a shocker. I knew bout the Android/Huawei debacle going in and was happy to side-load the important Apps. My issue is with basic operation. Navigation is a nightmare, the screen stays active during calls leading to multiple calls and a rogue screen and my photos are stuck in the phone with no usb access. I dont care to spend hours on Google to try and figure stuff out that should work from the bat.
Please don't do this to yourself!!!

I own this phone. It is extremely good for gaming for it's price. Installing GMS on this is extremely easy, all you need is just to downgrade your EMUI version from 10.1 to 10.0, Install Googlefier and then you have GMS!

Huawei P40 Lite E

Last month, Huawei finally unveiled its much-awaited flagship P40 lineup, which includes Huawei P40 and P40 Pro smartphones. As the name suggests, the lineup succeeds to the previous-gen P30 devices. Even though the device comes with flagship hardware, it lacks the most important thing i.e., Google Play Services.

For those who’re unaware, Huawei can not do business with U.S. companies in any way due to the U.S. trade ban. Because of this, the Chinese smartphone maker can not integrate Google Play services in its devices, which also includes the P40 series.

Since Google Play Services is like an essence of any Android smartphone, the user experience of P40 devices might not line with your expectations. That is why we decided to bring you a simple guide on How to Download & Install Google Play Services for P40 / P40 Pro Smartphone.

How to Install Google Play Services on Huawei P40 / P40 Pro

Even though the all-new P40 lineup doesn’t feature Google Play services, there is a simple workaround that one can do to use Google apps and services on the device.

Using the method described below, you will be able to install Google Play services. To top things off, the technique will also fix these common issues that arise when you try to install Play services.

  • You will no longer receive error messages such as ‘Google Play Services Not Available‘ when you try to open the Play Store or any other app.
  • All the apps will be able to connect with the Google services
  • Lastly, the services will still be available even if you restart your device.

Download Links:

Find the download links of all the necessary files for this tutorial below. Make sure to use these files if you have no idea what you’re dealing with here.

Above is the single download link of all the files. Extracting the zip will result in three different folders, namely Huawei (Backup file), Google Pack, and Fix folder.

Steps to Install Google Play Services

To install Google Play Services on Huawei P40/P40 Pro smartphones, you need to follow the steps mentioned down below.

Warning: It is advisable that you are not connected to the internet until said so for this tutorial.

  1. First up, you need to open the Huawei App Gallery and search for a Backup app. If there is an available update, then you have to first update the app.
  2. Now, download all the files from the Download section and place it inside a USB OTG drive.
  3. Copy the Huawei folder from the downloaded files to the OTG drive’s root directory.
Note: You will be asked whether to skip or merge. Choose to merge for all the files.
  4. Head over to Settings>>System & Updates and then tap on the Backup & Restore option.
  5. Now, tap on the Data Backup and then select the External Storage option and then the USB storage.
  6. You will now be able to see a backup available for restore in the Restore from Backup section. Tap on it to restore it.
Note: This is the backup that you coped to the root directory in the third step.
  7. Once tapped, you will see the App & Data option. Tap on it and then deselect the app that starts with GO. Leave the second one as it is.
Note: Make sure to uncheck both the App and Data for the Go app.
  8. Now, tap on the OK option and then restore the backup from the attached USB OTG drive.
Note: You will be asked for the password. You can find it in the hint section
  9. Once restored, you will see a new app in the app screen. It’s the same one that we saw earlier with the entire Chinese characters.
  10. Now, head back to the USB OTG drive and access the GooglePack folder that you previously copied.
  11. Inside the folder, you will see numerous APK files that you need to install. To proceed further, install all the Google applications from the folder.
  12. Now that all the Google files are installed. Connect your device to the internet and then open the GMS app. It’s the same app that we restored from the backup earlier. The one with the Chinese characters as its name.
  13. Once opened, tap on the Apply button (in blue color) that can be found at the bottom. Now, restart your device.
  14. Open the Play Store app and then close it. You will start to receive error notifications that say “Google Play services requires an action
Note: The error can take a couple of seconds to start appearing. You will receive countless notifications so it’s better to mute your device for the time being.
  15. Head over to Settings>>Apps and then tap on the three-dot menu on the top right side. Select the option that says Show system processes.
  16. Search for the Google Services Framework and then clear the cache and data of the app. Go back and force stop the application and then uninstall it.
  17. Open the Fix File folder from your micro USB OTG drive and install the Google Account Manager app.
  18. Now, head over to the Settings>>Users & Accounts and then add your Google account.
  19. It’s time to install the remaining app from the Fix Files folder. Open the folder and install the Google Services Framework.
  20. Open the Play Store and install any of your favorite apps. Now, head back to Settings>>Apps and look for Google Account Manager. Uninstall it.

You can now open the Google Play Store and install your favorite apps & games on your Huawei P40/P40 Pro smartphone.

Facing Google Play Services Errors? Here’s What You Can Do

With the above steps, you will be able to use Google Play services on your device. You will also be able to use Google login for various services and apps.

Although the guide here is pretty solid, there is still a chance that you will come across errors now and then. Well, that’s just the price you have to pay to enjoy the Google services. Worry not because we will show you how you can fix these errors if they arise.

  • One of the common errors that you will come across is that the Play Store doesn’t connect to the server. This means that you will see a blank white page with error on the screen whenever you open Google Play Store on your P40 device. You can try pressing the Retry button but nothing will happen.
  • Another annoying error is the occurrence of numerous error notifications.

To fix these errors, all you need to do is restart your device, and you should be able to use the service again. You can also turn off the notification for the affected apps.

Conclusion

Huawei P40 lineup offers an impressive flagship device with top-notch hardware and capabilities. Sadly, there is no Google Play services support, all thanks to the US trade ban. For now, you can use this workaround to have the Google apps and services on your device.

It is worth mentioning that Google can fix the workaround shortly. If that happens, we will make sure to update this article with new steps if available. Until then, the above steps are working flawlessly. After following the guide carefully, you should be able to install apps from Play Store and sign in to services using Google account.

Since the guide is quite lengthy, it can become confusing in no time. We tried to explain each step in the best manner possible. If you’re still facing some issues or have queries, you can always let us know in the comments down below. We’ll be helping you out in no time.
